2. How does your media product represent particular social groups?
My magazine uses several techniques to represent particular social groups, such as related bands, language, typography, ect
The colours I use are important to this aspect because I use calm colours, which contrast but represent the older generation, I have therefore used Black and Gold, as they blend very nicely together when using a gradient tool and also represent what is known as "The Golden Days" or "The Golden Oldies" these colours are not chaotic but create a nice atmosphere to the page, this would not apply had I used colours such as black and red as they are more violent chaotic colours.

The typography I have used is suited to the age generation as, once again, it is not chaotic but rather retro and exaggerated the idea of a retro, simpler time because it is the type of font expected to be seen in the 1930's, so the use of this exaggerates the age of the target audience, I have tried to make it more calm and organised than a new, loud looking font, i have done this by sticking to the house colours because it shows calm and class.

The band choice relate to the target audience, simply because they are all from the time period that the target audiences generation will have listened to throughout their lives, bands such as Spandau Ballet or Bon Jovi who were some of the most popular of their time.
This is the music related to the magazines genre, therefore it it is possibly one of the most, if not the most, important aspect of my magazine, had I used a heavy metal band such as Trivium, none of my target audience will have ever heard of them, much less want to read about them.
The language Represents the social group I have targeted as it uses puns related to the bands/artists involved, these puns will be understood widely by the age range I target but not so much any other age-groups, the puns I use relate mainly to the bands' most popular songs, this entire technique relates to my aim of using the Maslows hierarchy of needs, by using puns that mainly this generation will understand, I intend to make the audience feel involved and part of a social group, hence boosting confidence and self-acceptance, if this is realised, they will buy this magazine because it will fit the fourth step of the hierarchy.
